About the Artist
Zhang Huan (b. 1965, Anyang, China) is a contemporary Chinese artist known for his work in performance art, photography, and sculpture. His early works, often characterized by endurance-based performances, explored the limits of the human body in response to social, political, and cultural conditions in China. Later in his career, Zhang transitioned to large-scale sculptures and installations, continuing his focus on themes of spirituality, history, and identity. His works have been exhibited internationally, and he is regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary Chinese art.
